Marketing/Public Relations
Throughout her career in public relations, event planning, advertising and marketing, Susan has utilized a wide range of communication skills that require a creative, energetic approach to meeting business challenges. The ability to develop unique marketing strategies has allowed her to create successful programs and make significant contributions to a number of retail marketing, non-profits and hospitality management programs. Setting and achieving goals has proven her to be a self-starter who can deliver results impacting community and region.As Public Relations and Special Events Manager at University Mall in Chapel Hill, NC, Susan began as an independent contractor and was then asked to devote efforts full-time to creating and executing over two hundred strategically positioned events to promote awareness of University Mall and increase patronage. Involves collaborating with merchants to establish long-range action plans for customized programs to increase sales. As a result, distinctive programs involving the arts community, including Scrapel Hill Arts Exhibit and Contest, drew regional recognition and proved to be the most successful program at University Mall. She established monthly meetings to communicate with retailers regarding promotions, events, updates on mall renovations, by exchanging information regarding individual store’s concerns and/or celebrations.
Susan spearhead for campaigns, promotions, sponsorships and partnerships with over 50 different organizations, including UNC Children’s Hospital, The Ronald Mc Donald House, The Chapel Hill Museum, Kidzu Children’s Museum, UNC Kenan Flagler Business School, The ARC of Orange, Dress for Success, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School System, and the Town of Chapel Hill Public Art.She was the coordinator of sponsorships with nearly 20 different partners, including UNC Athletic Association, Tar Heel Sports Network, Irongate Winery, Grove Winery, Benjamin Vineyards, Harris Teeter, WCHL, WUNC, WCPE and South Estes Farmers’ Market. Prior to that, Reda was Public Relations Manager at The Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill, NC. There, she initiated and maintained positive relationships with local and national media resulting in premier coverage for the Siena Hotel & IL Palio Ristorante in North Carolina Signature Magazine, Metro Magazine, Chapel Hill Magazine, The Raleigh News & Observer, The Durham Herald and 1360 WCHL. Susan was the recipient of Siena Hotel "Spirit Award." She created "top of mind" presence with target market by involving hotel and restaurant management in community events and organizations including Family Violence Prevention, Cornucopia Cancer Center, Ronald McDonald House, UNC Women’s and Children’s Hospital, The Women’s Center, Chapel Hill And Orange County Visitors Bureau, NBC Tree of Lights and Orange County Literacy Council. On January 21, 2011, Susan and Melissa Cain discuss their roles with the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation on the West End Report on the Arts Susan originated promotions to support local non-profits such as the Chapel Hill Preservation Society and Kidzu Children’s Museum, and led the effort with Orange County Solid Waste to ensure that the property was making valiant efforts to be an ecological standard in the industry.
